Tau Devi Lal Govt. College for Women, Murthal was established in 2003 with the efforts of Education Society, Murthal. It is situated on National Highway I. Murthal is a big village in Sonipat district of Haryana in northern India and 48 kms from the national capital, New Delhi. Murthal is famous all over India for its highway dhabas. In these dhabas all kinds of vegetarian delicacies are served.

The word Murthal is suggested to have originated from the compound word "Munisthal" meaning "a place where sants meditated" (eg. Nage Wale Baba). There are temples of Lord Shiva, Hanuman and Kali Maa all around the village. Traditionally Murthalites worship the five Bavari brothers as their Kuldevtas. Separate temples are built for each Bavri brother and in the neighbourhood of these Bavari temples is the Nage Baba ki Prachin Samadhi.
